An Outstanding Carved Cupboard
This amazing cupboard has such an elaborate
facade! Everywhere you look you see all kinds of carved knobs, finials, posts,
medallions, mounted one on top of the other! The lower level which measures
4-1/4" from the floor up to the table surface has flanking cubicles with
finials on top and a lovely centered mirror with a gold framed beveled mirror.
Above the mirror is a round tiny mirror set as a pediment above the larger
mirror. All the attached wooden decoration, like carved spindles and knobs
seem to be in a darker stain which really emphasizes the intricate work on
this piece. The large center door is framed with a darker stained background
with a silhouette of a warrior in raised relief mounted on a circular blue
background set in gold twigs. On each side are flanking small silhouettes,
like the one in the center cupboard (when door is opened, there is a shelf
inside) A magnificent piece for a grand hall, for a
library , bedroom etc.
Measurements: 9-3/8" tall. These pieces were
very tall pieces in a room.
