An Ebony Boulle Deep Well Dresser

Tucked in the corner of the Ram’s Head bedroom, is an unusual and early dresser. It is earlier than the rosewood Boulle that we are more familiar with in furnishing a dolls’ house. The highly decorated mirror has a cut out pediment on top of vines and flowers and a similar design on the brackets that support  the mirror. Two large drawers at the base support the long glove drawers found on top, just below the mirror. The gold transfer work is quite plain and simple. This piece was found at the same time with a matching sofa and bureau were found.
