This is a great item!!! This piece would lay flat on a desk. The top piece is scrolled ormolu with green leather in the center. You lift it up and you will see several sheets of paper made into a pad and labeled "Notes". The base is all ormolu and is similar to the top but larger. It is mounted on two legs at the top which are connected to the rod that allows the top to swing back! All original and in excellent condition!
