An Early Set of Treen

These wooden dishes are quite desirable! The earlier pieces tend to have the unusual teapot; the shape is enlarged and the lid has a knob that is elongated on top. The design of the “peacock” is exceptionally nice with such detail in the painting and the delicate flowers around it. The picture of the single cup gives you a real close up of the fine painting.  You might wonder how these pieces are made! Gesso is applied on the wooden dishes, then an oil base paint is used to decorate them and then finally they are varnished to protect them.

This set consist of the tea pot, sugar bowl, and 5 cups and saucers.
