An Early Bookcase with Wooden Books
This piece could be used as a floor piece in a small dolls’ house or one could place it on a table. This would be charming in a parlor on a trestle table. What is so appealing is the glass inserted in the door that reveals the wooden books, there are 19 of them fitted on two shelves. They are papered in blue with gold decoration on the spine of the book. This same blue paper that we so often see on the interior of the Boulle furniture cabinets is the same paper. Wooden knobs and a drawer below the books is a handy storage area.
