A Tynietoy Spinet

The spinet is like a small piano and harpsichord combined to make a beautiful tone. It was invented in the 1600s and continues to be a sought after instrument  for special occasions. As you can see, the Tynietoy spinet has a cover that lifts up to expose a keyboard similar to a piano. Decorative art work is found on the hinges and there is a garland of flowers that appears over the keyboard. Additional lines of decoration appear on the front of this instrument. There are four tapered legs  and a leg in the center which has a pedal to sustain the sound.  A very special piece for your collection.

The appeal of this particular spinet is the lovely staining in a reddish light mahogany.
