A Fine Boulle Cabinet
This Boulle cabinet has some unusual gold transfer work. The two large cabinet doors at the bottom have quatrefoil designs and the transfer work on the drawer and on the top are all typical of what we usually see on this type of furniture. But the wonderful shelves mounted on the top are set with scrolled supports on each side. Behind these shelves, the background is gold with the rosewood used as the designs, in other words, the transfer work is just reversed. (The design is in rosewood instead of gold and the background is gold instead of the rosewood)
The construction or form of this piece is quite unusual. This piece could be placed in a parlor, dining room, bedroom etc.
