Tynietoy Treasures [15]

This shows the right side of the Nantucket house. You can see the widow’s walk and the whale weather vane.

The gutter on the house is original too.

This an interior view showing the four rooms in the Nantucket house. We will have a chance to visit the rooms in our next visit.

Here we are in the parlor of the Nantucket House- the room is full of pieces that remind us of the seaside and the

owner of this house does live in a famous seaside resort! I think the matching doorways on the back wall

are trade mark of this house! Right in the center of the room is the wonderful Tynietoy sea chest!

We hardly ever see this piece! What a great idea to use it as a coffee table to put books and a Nantucket basket on top.

Then that lovely Tynietoy floor map with a shade displaying “Nantucket Island” (One of my favorite places to visit).

I see the seashell on top of the desk and two more on top of the mantle. Here we have two maps; one of Nantucket and the

other of “Bermuda”……incredible! I just looked through the doorway with a table in the next room with a telephone

and the rare Tynietoy telephone book….just great! Did you happen to see the hooked rug on the floor near the fireplace-

an incredible scene of a light house! (that reminds me of my old home in Portsmouth, NH). You can’t miss the Nantucket

basket filled with wood for the fireplace. Last of all we have to mention the Tynietoy Peggity man who

is well dressed in his black felt suit, standing near the corner cupboard.

The kitchen in the Nantucket House- I see a different layout here with using the Tynietoy oval kitchen table as a work table

and the drop leaf table is used as a kitchen/dining room table. Perfect way to blend rooms when you don’t have that extra

room to furnish. The dark colors of some of the furnishings in navy blue- the cupboard, sink, chair and even the cast iron stove-

all blend nicely with the red highchair! The Arcade icebox fits nicely back in the corner while the Peggity lady is busy working at the sink!

I am fascinated with the artwork in the kitchen! Why not, it is a great place to enjoy some of the seaside scenes; the ship picture

and the sailboat and best of all there are plates with painted lobsters!! Even the banjo clock has a ship painting on it.

You can certainly see the owner’s love of the ocean in her furnishings and accessories.

The Bedroom in the Nantucket House- The tall canopy bed with its bed dressings in a gray background with white flowers dominates the room.

A sewing stand next to the bed also has a wonderful table lamp with a green base and a colorful flowered shade.

It seems table and floor lamps are certainly coveted by collectors! Back in the corner is a bow front chest with a shaving

mirror and to the side is a picture of a canoe on the water.  Here again we see the owner’s love for the sea and how

it is reflected in her furnishings in her dolls’ house. Right near the window we can see the railing to the staircase below.

The doll in the cradle  brings back memories of childhood and on the other side of the window is a Tynietoy black side chair.

Above it is a great paint of a ship with several masts sailing on the water.

We are now drawing our Album of Tynietoy Treasures to a close and hope you have enjoyed it. For all the collectors who contributed by sending in photos,

we are grateful for your contributions. Next week, I shall be back with more news about the Tynietoy album and what we plan to do with it.
