An Outstanding Greiner Doll

Greiner dolls were made between 1840- 1874. In 1858 a patent was granted to have papier mache doll heads. The dolls have cloth bodies with kid arms. They are reinforced from within by lining with strips of linen or silk. The hair is painted black and is wavy.

This doll has glass eyes, painted black hair with curls around the forehead. She is wearing leather gloves and holding 2 baskets. Her long linen apron covers a dark brown dress with dark brown dots. Another shawl of brown cloth with cream stripes drapes around her neck and shoulders. These dolls have cloth bodies with kid arms.
