An Outstanding Fireplace Screen
I actually placed this to the side of a fireplace. I just used it as a decorative piece in a parlor. The decoration is just amazing with pillars on each side of the lithographed print. Both columns have distinctive shapes with so much detail!! The top of the frame has a “swan” embedded in leaves that spreads across the width of the screen. The entire piece is done in an asphaltum wash. The lovely scene mounted in the frame shows two lovers on a bench with urns on top of pedestals filled with greenery and mounted on a stone wall with a boat at sea in the far distance. The moon is casting shadows above the bay and filling the entire scene with moonlight. This would make a delightful addition to that special room!
