Large Scale Kestner Washstand

This piece is beautifully made and has the openings where one would set up the appropriate bowls for the washstand. The opening in the front could be for the pitcher and bowl, the back piece which has three openings would be used for bowls with covers that would hold powder and other bathing necessities. There is a large center drawer to store supplies to include combs, brushes and perhaps a hand mirror. There is a piece of white banding below the drawer. The base is quite lovely with turned legs, a nice shelf to hold the chamber pot and a carved apron under the white banding.
