Tortoiseshell and Ormolu Desk

This appears to look like a miniature desk but as the pictures will show you, there is a compartment that opens on top and one that opens at the level of a desk top. I believe I purchased this piece as a holder of miniature sewing items. Little scissors, needlecase, needles, stiletto and thimbles would be placed in these compartments that open. Some of the Tortoiseshell has cracks. A unique piece!
