Tynietoy Treasures [9]
This is the parlor in the New England Town House. Right away we can see the yellow parlor set with the Sheraton sofa, a pair of Hepplewhyte chairs and wing chair.
The round Sheraton table is well suited for a lovely Limoges teaset in navy blue and white with gold decoration. But look in back of the sofa….a Tynietoy harpsichord!
What a special piece that we rarely see! The corner cupboard in white with a blue interior picks up the blue again in the teaset and rug!
The empire bureau on the left displays some special glassware including decanters and goblets! Framed pictures add a lot to the room!
The hallway on the first floor is shown here. The staircase is beautifully built with the railing stained in mahogany while the steps are stained in a
lighter color with white risers. Notice how the drawings on the side of the staircase gives you the feeling of paneling! We have a limited amount of space to
place furniture, but a grandfather’s clock (not Tynietoy), a bookcase and a settee to the side that has a colorful painted seat in deep rose and white flowers
makes a nice choice! I can’t tell if it is a Mt. Vernon settee or a Chippendale one! A reverse painted Tynietoy mirror is hanging on the wall.
A pot of flowers and two dogs gathered at the front door brings home a nostalgic feeling to everyone!
We are about to tour a Tynietoy mansion, a house with 9 main rooms and 4 in the wing area! There is just so much to see here, things that are both beautiful and rare.
Along with the mansion, we will tour a magnificent garden with pieces and accessories, you will never forget! Let’s just study the house first before we go to each individual
room. The wing on the side has four major rooms- a kitchen and pantry on the first level and a nursery and bathroom on the second floor. In the main house, we see three bedrooms,
a dining room, a parlor and a music room, plus three hallways! Later we will see the front of the house, but for now we can see how the front is removed and the hinged roof
lifts up to expose the third floor. You will later see that the house has a gambrel roof. There are built in fireplaces, one in each of the main rooms on the first floor and then there is a small
brick fireplace in the nursery. The front on the wing of the house is removable too. The house is electrified.
The Tynietoy Garden
Each Tynietoy garden I have seen is set up slightly different in the way the contents are arranged in this space. Using an original
Tynietoy catalog, will give you some idea of what things were available! This particular garden has many great pieces; trellises,
white garden benches, the garden sofa, birdbath, a sundial, etc. I think the rarest pieces are the trees and shrubs in pots!
The Grand Fountain
A piece that was not visible in the last photo of the garden was the fountain! It was tucked between two trellises.
Here is a good close up view that shows how the back wall of the garden was outlined in white where the fountain would be placed.
We can see the faucet that turns on the water and the different basins that allow the water to flow or spill over into the basin below!
But wait till you see the next photo, you won’t believe it!
